Ukraine wins EuroBasket U-20 semifinals to advance to Division A
Ukraine's men's basketball team defeated the Netherlands in the semifinals of the U-20 European Championship in Division B with a score of 70:58. Thanks to this victory, our youth team will play in Division A next season.
The beginning of the game was difficult for our team: the Dutch took the lead in the first quarter, gaining 11 points at the start of the game. However, the Ukrainians managed to stabilize the game by improving their defense. In the second quarter, Valeriy Plekhanov's team conceded 13 points, returning to the game and gaining a 1-point lead after the first half.
In the second half, the Ukrainian team continued to increase its lead: high-quality three-point defense and more efficient shot realization allowed the Yellow and Blues to extend their advantage to the maximum of 18 points in this match. In the fourth quarter, the Netherlands managed to reduce the gap slightly, but the Ukrainian basketball team maintained a double-digit lead and won the semifinal match.
We attacked better, both from mid-range and long range, which compensated for the opponent's advantage in rebounds. As in the quarterfinals, Nazar Kholod was the most effective for the Ukrainian team, with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists (RE 19).
Daniil Sypalo had an effective game, scoring only 2 points but helping the team with 11 rebounds, 4 assists and a blocked shot (RE 15), while Kyrylo Skutielnyk had 16 points.
Ukraine will play Romania in the final.
