Ukraine's youth national team has won a fantastic victory over England in the third match of the 2025 European Championship qualifying tournament. Coach Unai Melhosa's wards snatched three points from the current winners of the continental championship in the last added minute in Kosice, Slovakia - 3: 2.
The Ukrainians had a hard time in the first half hour of the game - the nominal guests took the initiative and deprived the opponent of the ball. However, in the 31st minute, the Blue and Yellows launched an exemplary counterattack, which was finished by Dynamo's Nazariy Voloshyn with a well-aimed shot.
Moreover, just before the half-time whistle, the Ukrainians managed to double their lead. Mariupol midfielder Oleh Ocheretko, to everyone's surprise, decided to take a direct free kick from a sharp angle, which the English goalkeeper was not ready for - 2-0.
In the second half, the British rushed to attack and scored one goal in the middle of the 45th minute. And at the very end of the match, West Ham defender Aaron Crosswell seemed to save his team from defeat with a well-aimed header.
However, in the 90+4th minute, Melgosa's men caught the opponent on a mistake in the center of the field, launched a counterattack, and Lviv Rukh forward Illya Kvasnytsya put the ball into the far corner from 13 meters. Thus, our team won and topped the qualifying group.
The Ukrainians will play their next match on November 17, when they will face Luxembourg.
