Tyson Fury had a "catastrophe" after defeat by Usyk
British boxer Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) has fallen sharply in the world heavyweight rankings after his second defeat by Oleksandr Usyk. The Sun writes about the catastrophic situation for the career of the Gypsy King.
Fury was ranked number one in the World Boxing Organization's rankings when he fought for Usyk's WBO, WBA, and WBC belt in December. But, just like in their first fight in May, the Ukrainian won on points in the second fight in Saudi Arabia. As a result, Fury was only in 3rd place in the WBO rankings.
Despite the fact that Tyson is still ranked number one by the World Boxing Council (WBC), with the belt he held, Fury is only in the top five in the WBA rankings.
According to local media reports, Tyson's last chance is a potential British blockbuster against 35-year-old Anthony Joshua, who was knocked out by 27-year-old Daniel Dubois in September.
Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has said that Dubois and Fury are the only names they will focus on in 2025.
In an interview with iFL TV, he said: "We're only interested in two fights: a rematch with Daniel Dubois and a fight with Tyson Fury. He [AJ] would be happy to get another chance to become the world heavyweight champion. So, now the fight with Fury is close. Maybe it's not as big as it could be, but it's still the biggest fight in boxing. Name me a bigger fight in boxing. There isn't. The AJ Fury fight is the biggest in boxing."
We would like to remind you that on the night of Sunday, December 22, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury for the second time and defended his titles. The Ukrainian's seventh fight in the super-heavyweight division ended with a 116-112, 116-112, 116-112 victory. Immediately after the fight, Fury strongly disagreed with the defeat.
