Tyson Fury "disqualified" after defeat by Usyk
British super heavyweight Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) has been suspended from boxing for more than a month on medical grounds, sportbible.com reports. Earlier, his rival, WBA, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), received a similar "disqualification".
According to the WBC regulations, both fighters must rest for three days after each round. Since the fight went the full distance, both Fury and Usyk now have to spend at least 36 days out of the ring before they can return to action.
It is worth noting that if one of the fighters is defeated by a technical knockout - when the referee decides that the fighter cannot safely continue the fight for any reason - the loser will have to rest for at least 30 days.
If a boxer loses by a clear knockout - when they cannot get to their feet before the scoring - the loser will have to serve at least 60 days.
At the same time, boxers' cards on boxrec have not changed. They still state that they can enter the ring at any time.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, after the first Usyk-Fury fight in May this year, the British Boxing Board of Control suspended the Ukrainian.
As a reminder, all three judges of the Usyk vs. Fury 2 fight gave the victory to the Ukrainian boxer with a score of 116-112. In addition, it became known what result was recorded by artificial intelligence.
It has become known that after the rematch, promoter Eddie Hearn decided to appeal the score. In turn, the British media found out what Tyson was told before the 12th round of the fight and even showed a video of what happened in the last minutes.
At the same time, impressive statistics of the opponents' punches in the fight were published. And the photo showed what Fury's face looked like after 100 missed punches from Usyk.
After the victory, Usyk decided on his next opponent and also made a confession about a rematch with Tyson.
