Top 5 horror movies the actors of which died in gruesome circumstances

The Crow, Poltergeist, and other films are known all over the world not only for their artistic value.

The fact is that some actors and even crew members died shortly after their release. Thus, they drew attention to the films because of the legends about deadly curses that were allegedly imposed on entire production crews. OBOZREVATEL has gathered details about the most notorious "cursed" movies in Hollywood.

1. Rosemary's Baby, 1968

A year after the release of Rosemary's Baby, a terrible tragedy happened in the family of director Roman Polański. Members of the maniacal Charles Manson's cult stabbed his 26-year-old wife, actress and model Sharon Tate, to death when she was nine months pregnant. The murderers were sentenced to life along with the leader.

However, the accidents connected with the movie did not end there. 11 years later, in the archway of the Dakota building in New York, where Rosemary's Baby was filmed, a crazy Beatles fan Mark Chapman shot and killed legendary musician John Lennon.

2. The Exorcist (1973)

This movie is considered the scariest in the history of cinema. It is known that after the release of this horror movie, Chicago psychiatric hospitals received more patients, and people began to turn to churches across America to have the devil exorcised. Moreover, the film crew itself called an exorcist during the filming process, as the actors and other team members felt that demons were present on set.

And in 1987, a real tragedy happened: the son of actress Mercedes McCambridge, who voiced the demon Pazuzu in the body of the main character, killed his child and wife and then committed suicide.

3. Poltergeist (1982)

The curse of the Poltergeist trilogy is the most famous in Hollywood as four actors died in six years. Thus, after the release of the first part, 22-year-old Dominique Dunne, who played the eldest daughter in the Freeling family, was strangled by her boyfriend. Actor Julian Beck from the second part of Poltergeist passed away immediately after the filming was completed due to cancer. He was followed by Will Sampson who died during heart surgery.

The fourth death shocked the public the most: 12-year-old Heather O'Rourke, who played Carol Anne's youngest daughter, died during the filming of the third Poltergeist. The child suffered a heart attack caused by intestinal stenosis. The writer James Caan, who adapted the film's script into a novel, also died tragically. In 1994, the house of the Freeling family, where all parts of the series were filmed, collapsed.

4. The Crow (1994)

There have been many accidents on the set of The Crow, including fires and hurricanes, but the death of Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee's son, came as a shock to all the crew members. It all happened while working on the final episode of the movie.

The Brandon Lee's character was supposed to be killed by his enemy Funboy, played by Michael Massee. By accident, the prop gun that Michael was using to shoot Brandon fatally wounded the actor in the stomach when he fired a blank cartridge.

5. Queen of the Damned (2002)

The main star of the vampire horror film Queen of the Damned died at the age of 23, a month after the end of filming. It is interesting that her character, Queen Akasha, dies in the finale, crumbling to dust.

Aaliyah herself died along with her crew in a plane crash while returning from the filming of the RnB video "Rock the Boat" in the Bahamas.
