The second game at 4 Nations Face-Off between the United States and Canada ended in a 3-1 victory for the Americans. However, the real highlight occurred immediately after the start when three fights broke out in the first nine seconds.

The tension was palpable even before the game started. It wasn't the central forwards who rushed forward after the faceoff but wingers Matthew Tkachuk and Brandon Hagel, who clearly didn't need the puck.

After the formal draw, Tkachuk immediately threw off his gloves, initiating a series of violent confrontations.

Later, Tkachuk admitted that the players had discussed this possibility in advance in a chat with the Canadians. "We needed to send a message," Matthew explained.

Brandon did not stand aside - shortly after the game started, he got into a fight with Sam Bennett, and then J.T. Miller and Colton Parayko joined too.

"I thought it was great energy from both sides, and the building was shaking after the third one," said Tkachuk.

The fact that the fans in Montreal booed the U.S. national anthem before the game added to the heat. This had already happened earlier in the match with Finland, despite the announcer's request to show respect for the opponent.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the game, later posting a video with a caption: "Canada, the true north, strong and free."
