This city in Poland was named one of the best resorts in Europe in 2024: warm sea, low prices and clean sand
When choosing a destination for a summer beach vacation, tourists often underestimate Poland, preferring Spain, Italy, Greece, and other warm resorts. This tendency leads to the fact that southern European countries are oversaturated with vacationers, while resorts in the North remain uncrowded, and can offer pleasant prices and clean coastlines.
According to Simon Calder, a travel expert, one of the best beach destinations in Europe is the city of Sopot on the Baltic coast of Poland. This was reported by Express.
Although this resort is not as warm as Spanish and Italian ones, on sunny days "its beaches can be confused with the Caribbean," the expert believes.
"An absolutely charming resort, and an incredibly good deal. Prices are back to the 1990s. It's not the warmest sea, it's not the Mediterranean, but on the other hand, in July and August it's fantastic," Simon Calder assured.
The clean and fine sand is conducive to pleasant walks along the 4-kilometer beach, volleyball games, sandcastle building, and pleasant swimming. Because there are not many tourists here, it is easier to keep the coastline clean.
Near the beach, there are many cafes, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, and the Sopot Aquapark.
The wide coastline allows for thousands of vacationers to stay at the same time, and the city's proximity means that you don't have to spend a lot of time getting to attractions, museums, and other cultural places.
One of the highlights of Sopot is the Crooked House, a unique building designed by Polish architect Zalewski. It is known for its curved facade and bizarre shape.
