The well-known Ukrainian tennis player defeated her opponent from Moscow at the Australian Open 2024
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska has advanced to the third round of the Australian Open-2024, currently taking place in Melbourne. Our compatriot easily defeated Varvara Gracheva, a native of Moscow who has been competing under the French flag since last year.
It took the 23-year-old from Odesa 67 minutes and two sets to defeat her peer, 6-3, 6-2. During this time, Yastremska made five service aces, won 22 active rallies, and converted three of four breakpoints. Dayana recorded one double fault and 17 unforced errors.
Now the Ukrainian will face the 27th-seeded American Emma Navarra in Melbourne. This meeting will be the first face-to-face match for the girls on a professional court.
Earlier, Ukraine's top tennis player Elina Svitolina won a convincing victory over Bulgaria and reached the third round of the super tournament in Australia.
