Kyiv-Zhuliany Airport through the years

Kyiv Sikorsky International Airport (Zhuliany) started accepting flights more than 100 years ago. Cameras captured its appearance in 1961.

The photos were published on the Telegram channel of the Historic Kyiv community. You can see how these air gates of the capital looked like almost 65 years ago.

"Kyiv Airport in the movie. 1961," the post reads.

The published photos show the interior of the waiting room, airports, airplanes, and passengers of the capital's airport.

Kyiv Sikorsky International Airport, Kyiv-Zhuliany Airport is the second largest passenger international airport in Ukraine and Kyiv, located within the capital's Zhuliany neighborhood, 8 km southwest of the city center.

Thanks to the brush of Serhii Svetoslavskyi, a famous Ukrainian landscape painter and one of the founders of the Society of Kyiv Artists, we can see how Obolon looked like in Kyiv in the late nineteenth century before the construction of the harbor, which greatly changed this location.

As OBOZ.UA reported, among the lost monuments of Kyiv is a building that was created specifically for the Golgotha panorama. It was a depiction of the biblical story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The work of art by Viennese masters could be seen in a special building located on St. Volodymyr's Hill.
