Winters in Kyiv used to be really snowy, and you could get stuck in snowdrifts. You can see the beauty of the Ukrainian capital in this period thanks to photos taken in the late 1960s.
They were published in the community "Kyiv is my favorite city" on Facebook. The black-and-white photos convey the incredible atmosphere of the city's life.
"When winters in Kyiv were super snowy. 1968-1969. The first photo is of the "Pogoda" information kiosk on Zolotovoritska Street, and on the right is Ivanytskyi's two-story mansion №6-А," the post reads.
In addition, the published images show the Golden Gate, which had not yet been restored, the Vydubytskyi Monastery, the Hryshko Botanical Garden, and the center of the capital.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Darnytsia railway station in Kyiv was built in the late 19th century, turning the area into a famous vacation spot and summer cottage. The building itself looked like a fairy-tale house thanks to its interior and the surrounding forest.
