The vast majority of objects related to the history and culture of the Russian Federation and the USSR have been dismantled in Kyiv. The decision was made in July this year.

This was announced by Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Hanna Starostenko, the press service of the department reports. According to her, the next step is to address the objects that still have the status of monuments of national importance.

"Monuments and memorial plaques representing the Soviet and imperial past have no place in the capital. Together with experts and representatives of specialized institutions, we are carrying out large-scale work to finally remove from the public space all those objects that glorify the aggressor country," Starostenko emphasized.

Currently, according to the list approved by the Kyiv City Council, six more objects are to be removed, including monuments that have the protected status of national importance. In particular, these are monuments to Pushkin, Shchors, the crew of the Tarashchanets armored train, etc.

"These names are now on everyone's lips, but we cannot dismantle them without the government removing their protected status. We have once again appealed to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine to speed up the adoption of a resolution to remove these objects from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Cultural Heritage of National Significance. As soon as the document is approved, the city will be able to legally dismantle these objects," emphasized Starostenko.

She added that at a meeting of the interagency working group, a list of 56 objects was additionally agreed upon, which are also planned to be removed from the city's public space.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, activists in Kyiv are again demanding the demolition of monuments to Alexander Pushkin and Mykola Shchors. The relevant calls were made with the help of inscriptions on these monuments.
