The total score is 27-1: Ukraine wins its fourth match in a row at the World Ice Hockey Championship
The Ukrainian national ice hockey team has won the fourth match out of four with a total score of 27-1 at the IIHF World Championship in Division IB, which is currently taking place in Lithuania. Dmytro Khrystych's team, which conceded for the first time in the tournament, was stronger than its rivals from Spain – 6:1.
The match was not as easy for the "Blue and Yellows" as the final score might suggest. Suffice it to say that the first period ended in a zero-zero draw, and in the fourth minute of the second, the Spaniards unexpectedly hit the goal of Bohdan Diachenko, who replaced the main goalkeeper Eduard Zakharchenko.
At the end of the 20th minute, our team restored the balance through the efforts of Danylo Trakht. The Ukrainians played the decisive segment of the match enchantingly. In addition to Trakht, Stanislav Sadovikov scored a double, and Hlib Kryvoshapkin and Viktor Zakharov scored a goal each.
Thus, the Ukrainians have scored 12 points out of 12 possible and will play the decisive match of the tournament on May 3. The hosts Lithuanians will be the rivals of Hristich's team (kickoff: 19:30 Kyiv time). The winner of the game will be promoted. It should be noted that the yellow and blue team has not played in Division IA since 2016.
