The stands at the stadium in Italy gave a standing ovation to the Ukrainian national team player. Video
Ukrainian Roma striker Artem Dovbyk scored the winning goal in the 22nd round of the Italian Serie A championship. The 27-year-old Ukrainian national team player converted a penalty kick in the match against Udinese, making the score 2-1.
In the 63rd minute, Rezvan Sava dropped a Roma player in his penalty area and Simone Sozza pointed to the 11-meter mark without question. Since the Romans' regular penalty kicker Lorenze Pellegrini had already taken a shot in the 50th minute, the Ukrainian was given the chance to take advantage of his chance and he did so confidently. Artem hit the corner, not allowing the goalkeeper to make a save.
In the 81st minute, Claudio Ranieri decided to change Dovbyk. When Artem left the field, the guest stands of the Stadio Friuli stadium in Udine gave him a real ovation.
This goal was Dovbyk's 12th in 28 games for the Roman club, and in Serie A he has already scored 8 goals in 20 matches. This put him ahead of Oleksandr Zavarov, who scored 7 goals in the Italian championship. Only Andriy Shevchenko and Ruslan Malynovskyi are ahead of him in terms of goals.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, Dovbyk in the 7th round of the Europa League group stage smashed the face of AZ defender Wouter Hus into blood. The incident occurred in the 19th minute of the match.
