The series "Sweetpea" humiliated Putin and compared Russia to a cancerous tumor. Video
The new multi-episode thriller series "Sweetpea" mentions the terrorist country Russia. In the 4th episode of the first season, the main character calls her abuser a bad person, comparing her to a cancerous tumor and the Russian Federation.
"You are destroying lives, Julia. You're like cancer. Or climate change, or Russia. Yes, the world would be a better place without you. But with Russia, at least everyone knows what a psychopath Putin is. And no one even knows about you. And when they do, it will be too late. Because you have already destroyed them," says the character of actress Ella Purnell.
"Sweetpea" tells the story of a seemingly quiet girl, Rhiannon Lewis, who decides to create a blacklist of people who have ever offended her. From the supermarket worker who ignores her to the boss who sees her as just an assistant, the list is long and obviously thought out.
After the death of her family, Rhiannon realizes her loneliness. At the funeral, she sees Julia (Nicole Leckie), a childhood bully who was cruel to the heroine. Then Lewis makes a promise to herself that she will never be a victim again. Subsequently, the girl's entire life is completely destroyed, and Rhiannon herself embarks on a path of revenge.
The heroine begins to struggle with these unexpected, and morally wrong, desires. The only way she seeks to gain free will in her life is to take away the free will of other people. She gains more confidence by getting rid of what makes all people human, trading her restraint for violence that she cannot control even if she wanted to. As the violence continues and the deception becomes part of her daily life, Rhiannon doesn't feel bad about what she has done, she is just afraid of being caught.
Roger Ebert film critics named Sweetie the best gift of the fall. All six episodes of the first season are already available for viewing. The review notes that the last episode will be the most shocking for the viewer.
