Mykhailo Spivakovsky, host of the TaToTake YouTube channel, denied the news that the European Football Union (UEFA) tried to force the Ukrainian national team to play a friendly match with Laos before the decisive battle with Italy in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. According to the journalist, all this is "nonsense, to put it mildly."

Spivakovsky said that the coaching staff of the national team of Ukraine and the UAF were aware that they would have to play a match before the meeting with Italy (November 20). They knew about it long before the meeting was scheduled for November 16 or 17. The plans for this period existed already two months before the appointed date.

"Based on my information, the original agreement to hold the match with one of the national teams was violated due to certain financial aspects. The question arose who to play with instead of this team. Initially, the possibility of holding a match against Slavia in Prague was considered, but in the end this idea was abandoned due to unsatisfactory conditions for training the Ukrainian national team," Spivakovsky said.

The second option was an agreement with Lechia Gdansk to host the match. "It (the agreement) was reached a month or a month and a half ago. Only then did the Lao Football Federation contact us with a proposal to hold the match and find out about the conditions, but they were told that the game with Lechia had already been agreed.

"Therefore, we can say that the stories that someone insisted on a match against Laos are, to put it mildly, nonsense. Everyone was aware that the match was to take place within these terms, and they have long known who the match would be played against," Spivakovsky emphasized.

Earlier, UEFA President Alexander Čeferin expressed confidence that the Ukrainians would not be able to win the decisive qualifying match.
