On the night of Saturday, November 16, the Russians attacked Kyiv and the region with "Shaheds". Air defense forces were working on enemy targets, and several explosions were heard. In the Obolon district of the capital, the fall of downed UAVs damaged balconies and windows in a high-rise building.
The threat was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force and the Kyiv City Military Administration. "UAV attack in Kyiv region heading for Brovary. Kyiv – stay in shelters!" Kyiv residents were urged.
Monitoring publics reported that the UAV was heading for Obolon and Holosiivskyi districts. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that air defense forces were operating in the capital, as well as in the region.
Later, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhii Popko, informed that in the Obolon district of Kyiv, balconies, and windows were damaged in a multi-storey residential building due to the fall of Shahedi fragments.
"No information on the alleged fire was received. There is no information about the victims. The operational report is being updated and clarified," he wrote.
The monitors also warned that 2 UAVs were flying to Kyiv through Troyeschyna. A group of UAVs from Chernihiv region is heading for Brovary, the Air Force reported.
Around 3 a.m., the KMIA reported that air defense systems were operating again in the region, on the outskirts of Kyiv.
As of 05:40, Popko reported the destruction of about 10 enemy drones in the airspace around the capital.
"Tonight Russian attack drones attacked Kyiv once again. The air alert in the capital lasted almost 3 hours. During this time, the defense forces detected and neutralized up to a dozen enemy UAVs in the airspace around the city. As a result of the attack, residential infrastructure was damaged in the Obolon district of the capital. Balconies and windows in a multi-storey residential building were damaged by falling debris. There was no information about the victims," he said.
At that time, air defense forces continued to operate in Kyiv and neighboring regions, so the head of KMIA warned Kyiv residents against ignoring air raid alarms, as the Shaheds could change course for Kyiv at any time.
A few hours after the attack, Kyrylo Fesyk, head of the Obolon District State Administration, gave a few more details about the consequences of the Russian strike.
"As a result of the night attack on our capital, unfortunately, the debris damaged a residential building in Obolon district, namely the common areas of the building. Utilities are already working to restore them. No fire or injuries were reported," he said in a statement.
Fesyk also advised residents of the district to contact the hotline of the Obolon District State Administration at 0663563520 and 0443346102. There, they can report damage to their apartments as a result of this or previous attacks, as well as get advice on the availability of city or state reconstruction programs.
