On the night of Thursday, November 7, Russian troops once again sent Shahed-type attack UAVs at Kyiv. Air defense systems were deployed in the capital and its suburbs, and the falling debris from the downed targets set fire to garages, a service station, a high-rise building, a business center, and a medical facility, injuring two people.
Emergency services were dispatched to extinguish the fires in six districts of the city, and residents were evacuated. This was reported by the head of the KRMA, Serhii Popko, on Telegram.
Around two o'clock in the morning, he noted that as a result of the Russian attack in the Holosiivskyi district, an apartment in a residential building was damaged. The blast wave damaged windows in some apartments. One person sought medical assistance.
In the same area, a fire broke out on the territory of garages and a nearby service station with a total area of 200 square meters.
After 05:00, loud explosions were heard in the capital again. This time, the KRMA confirmed that drone debris fell on an apartment building in the Pechersk district. There was heavy smoke and later a fire.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that a fire broke out on the 33rd technical floor of a high-rise building in Pechersk as a result of the fall of UAV debris. Rescuers evacuated the residents (the city organized several buses for this purpose). Ambulance crews were on duty at the scene, but there were no calls for medical assistance.
"All emergency services are in place. The attack on the capital continues. Stay in shelters!" the mayor said.
According to the KRMA, after a fire in a restaurant on the 33rd floor of a residential building (50 square meters), the building structures of the 34th technical floor were partially destroyed.
"The fire has been extinguished. There was no information on casualties," the ministry said, adding that air defense is still in place in the capital.
After 06:00, Vitali Klitschko reported on the aftermath of the attack in Solomianskyi district: the drone debris fell into the yard of a private house, and a fire broke out in an open area.
"At another address, a non-residential building was on fire as a result of the attack," the mayor wrote in a general summary.
In Obolonskyi district, a fire started on the roof of a six-story business center in an area of 10 square meters due to the wreckage of a UAV. There are no preliminary casualties.
In the Solomianskyi district, debris fell on the territory of an industrial enterprise, where a person was injured. A fire broke out in a warehouse building over an area of 600 square meters, spreading to the roof over an area of 50 square meters.
In the same area, there was a fire of 20 square meters on the first floor of a three-story medical center. The building was evacuated, and there were no casualties.
According to the State Emergency Service, a two-story private house in Podil district has been completely engulfed in flames.
The Kyiv State Emergency Service reported that a fire of 50 square meters was extinguished on the 33rd floor of a residential building, which resulted in partial destruction of the building structures of the technical floor above. Forty-seven firefighters and 16 units of fire and rescue equipment were working at the scene.
The head of Obolon district administration, Kyrylo Fesyk, reports that during the long night attack on the capital, the debris of the downed targets fell on the upper floors of a business center in the area: no casualties.
"The fire has been completely extinguished and the situation at the emergency site is stable. Many thanks to our State Emergency Service and the district police department for their immediate response!" he wrote.
Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Darnytsia RMA in Kyiv, said that the remains of downed enemy UAVs were found in the open in the Bortnychi and Osokorky neighborhoods. There was no damage or casualties.
The Ukrainian Air Force warned about the movement of the "Shahed" toward Kyiv at about 02:00. A group of enemy UAVs was heading for the capital from the north. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that air defense was operating in the region.
The air alert in Kyiv and the region continued throughout the morning, as enemy drones were still flying in the region's airspace.
Police and rescuers worked at the sites where the debris had fallen. Specialists were eliminating and documenting the consequences of the Russian attack.
