On Wednesday, October 2, the world's inhabitants will be able to observe a solar eclipse, which is called the "Eye of Sauron" due to its ring-shaped appearance. Residents of Easter Island, Chile, and Argentina will be able to observe this miracle in its full glory.

According to the BBC Sky at night magazine, the eclipse will be partial in South America and most of Antarctica. Unfortunately, this fantastic astronomical phenomenon will not be visible in Europe and, in particular, in Ukraine.

According to scientists, an annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes in front of the Sun, and its visible size in the sky is not enough to completely cover the disk of the hot star.

On October 2, the Moon will cover approximately 93% of the Sun's disk, forming the famous "Eye of Sauron," TheSun reports.

The "Ring of Fire" will be visible for seven minutes and 25 seconds, experts say. And this eclipse can only be observed with special glasses or through special telescopes.

If you're not from Chile or Argentina but want to see the Eye of Sauron, you can watch it online from anywhere in the world. In particular, Timeanddate.com is broadcasting the eclipse live on YouTube.

According to scientists, an annular solar eclipse usually occurs every one to two years.

The next annular solar eclipse will be observed on February 17, 2026, in Antarctica. A total solar eclipse will take place on August 12, 2026, in Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain.
