Vitamin D contributes to the development of the brain of a child in the womb.

Studies have shown that the level of this vitamin in a woman during pregnancy is associated with fetal IQ, according to Eurek Alert.

Vitamin D can be passed from mother to child in the womb. The higher the concentration of this vitamin, the higher the IQ level of a child aged 4-6 years, according to scientists.

At the same time, a pattern was found: the risk of vitamin D deficiency increased in dark-skinned women. Thus, a large amount of melanin pigment in dark skin leads to a fairly effective blocking of UV radiation. And vitamin D is produced in the skin in response to it.

Experts believe that it is not easy to compensate for the deficiency of this vitamin from food. However, it is still worth including foods containing vitamin D in your diet. These are fatty fish, eggs, milk, and cereals enriched with the vitamin. A daily intake of 600 IU of vitamin D is recommended.
