Mudryk is the best player of the English League Cup quarterfinals
Ukraine's winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been named the best player in the quarterfinals of the English League Cup. This trophy became the first for our compatriot in the London-based Chelsea, which he joined last winter for 100 million euros including bonuses.
The English club announced this on its page on X, formerly known as Twitter. Mudryk scored a goal in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal match against Newcastle. The Ukrainian scored in the 90th minute, helping his team to equalize the score and take the game to a penalty shootout.
Mudryk spotted Magpies defender Kieran Trippier's mistake and sent the ball into the far corner of the opponent's goal. Mykhailo also made an 11-meter penalty kick, which allowed Chelsea to reach the semifinals of the tournament.
The battle for a ticket to the decisive match of the tournament will take place on January 9. Middlesbrough, a representative of the Premier League, will be the team's rival in the away match. The game starts at 22:00 Kyiv time.
