French biathlete Julie Simon has been arrested in connection with bank card fraud, ledauphine.com reports. Police detained the 27-year-old two-time biathlon world champion and current holder of the Big Crystal Globe in her hometown of Albertville.

She was held at the police station for several hours and then released.

"This is an normal procedure of the current criminal process. There was an interrogation, during which Julie denied the accusations against her, as she did from the beginning. Now Julie intends to concentrate on the start of the season," L'Équipe quoted lawyer Simon Christian Borel as saying.

In January and June 2022, several purchases were made from Bresaud-Boucher's bank card, but without her knowledge, for between €1,000 and €2,000.

Everything that was bought was then delivered to Julie Simon's house in Beaufortin. The cops have been investigating for more than a year. Investigators have had to determine, for example, the IP address and the computer or terminal (smartphone, tablet) from which the suspicious orders were placed.
