The Motherland Monument in Kyiv is the tallest in Europe. It was completed and unveiled in 1981, but before that, its parts were transported at night to avoid attracting people's attention.

The old photos were published on the kyivvibe Telegram channel. You can see what this unique process was like over 40 years ago.

"The process of making the Motherland monument. The metal for the monument was made in Zaporizhzhia. The steel components were assembled into a single structure in Kyiv," the community said.
