"Silence is like torture!" A rally in support of prisoners of war was held in Kyiv. Video
On February 16 in Kyiv, another action "Don't be silent! Captivity Kills" in support of captured soldiers and missing persons. People were holding flags, posters with photos of Ukraine's defenders and calls that our military are still in hell.
Cars passing by the protesters honked their horns in support. This was reported by an OBOZ.UA correspondent.
The rally brought together concerned citizens, activists, representatives of NGOs, Kyiv residents and guests to support and draw attention to this important issue. Among them are mothers waiting for sons, sisters for brothers, wives for husbands, and military personnel for their comrades.
Relatives, friends, comrades-in-arms and city residents gathered at the intersection of Basseina and Esplanadna streets, near the Gulliver shopping and entertainment center and the Palace of Sports metro station. The posters featured photos of missing soldiers, those still in captivity, and inscriptions:
- FreeAzov.
- "Silence is like torture".
- "You are free, but they are still in hell!"
- "Let's fight for the return of everyone".
- "Their hands are still tied".
- "Be the voice of the prisoners".
- "There are no holidays in captivity! Only torture and abuse!"
- "Freedom to the steel! To the living and the dead! Russian monsters have not returned the prisoners and bodies of the dead for three years!"
- "Today I am 19 and my only wish is for FreeAzov"
- "Current realities already demand your "Do not be silent"!
- "There are no dumb lips. There are indifferent hearts."
According to the participants, such actions are extremely important for those in Russian captivity. Public attention needs to be drawn to the situation with our defenders, who are illegally convicted in Russia, held in inhumane conditions, tortured and abused.
They hope that this will help to ensure that sooner or later every prisoner of war will be at home.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, on January 18, a rally in support of captured defenders called "Ours are not home yet" was held on Independence Square in Kyiv. The participants said they wanted to appeal to the international community and all concerned citizens to support those who are waiting for their loved ones.
