Russian Shaheds attacked Kharkiv, killing rescuers

On the night of Thursday, April 4, the Russian occupiers attacked Kharkiv with Shahed-type kamikaze drones. Explosions were heard in the city, and air defense forces were working on enemy targets. The enemy struck residential buildings, there was destruction, four people were killed and 12 wounded.

The invaders again resorted to their insidious tactics and killed three rescuers who were eliminating the consequences of one of the arrivals. The attack on Kharkiv was confirmed by Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

Later it became known that Russian troops had hit residential buildings with Shaheds, both private and apartment buildings, Terekhov wrote.

"At least 4 strikes were made by the occupiers in Kharkiv. There were hits on civilian residential buildings. The specialized services are inspecting the sites," the Regional Military Administration said.

In one of the high-rise buildings in Kharkiv, the upper floors were damaged as a result of enemy strikes. Damage to private sector residential buildings was also recorded.

Later, Syniehubov said that three rescuers were killed in Kharkiv - they were eliminating the consequences of the attack when the enemy struck again. Another rescuer was injured.

In a commentary to Suspilne, the mayor of the city clarified that the rescuers killed in the second enemy attack on Kharkiv were drivers. At least three SES vehicles were damaged, one of them had a crater near it.

The death toll increased to four people as the body of a civilian woman was found. At least 10 people were injured as a result. A 49-year-old man is in serious condition, the rest of the patients are in moderate and light condition.

Among the injured was a nurse from the Regional Emergency Medical Center who responded to a call and was injured by a second strike, the Regional Military Administration said.

"In another area of the city, we have one preliminary death, there was a hit in the private sector," Terekhov added.

On Thursday morning, the mayor of Kharkiv said that one Shahed hit a 14-story building, destroying apartments on several floors and damaging an outer wall.

"There are wounded and dead as a result of the strikes," he wrote.

He also added that three rescuers were killed in a second attack on a residential building in another location. An ambulance came under fire and a nurse was wounded, who had arrived at the scene with the team to provide assistance.

"In total, we have four dead. The total number of wounded of varying degrees of severity is 12," said Terekhov.

According to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Regional Military Administration, the occupiers launched at least 15 attack UAVs in Khaprykivka district, some of them were shot down by air defense forces.

In Kharkiv, the Novobavarsky district was in the crosshairs: an apartment building was damaged; a second strike killed three emergency workers who responded to a call and injured six civilians. The drone hit the 14-story building, partially destroying the balconies of the upper floors, damaging the glazing and structural elements. A 69-year-old woman has died.

The official added that at 02:49 the occupiers struck Saltivka district; at about 02:08 - Lozova: civilian infrastructure was damaged, five cars were burning; after 05:00 - again in the same town; at 03:05 - Chuhuiv district. In all cases, there were no casualties.

It should be noted that the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that a UAV was moving towards the city. After the first explosions, they reported that new "Shakedowns" from the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation were flying to Kharkiv.
