Russian Olympic champion disqualified because of Palestinian flag
The Russian Judo Federation (RJF) disqualified Olympic champion Khasan Khalmurzaev after he supported the Hamas terrorist movement. The athlete posted a Palestinian flag and also published several videos of the aftermath of Israeli strikes. The city was attacked on the morning of October 7.
This is stated on the website of the International Judo Federation (IJF). The letter from the IJF states that "the athlete was found to have violated internal rules and regulations that do not allow the expression of any religious or political personal views in public posts."
Khalmurzaev has been suspended from all domestic and international tournaments. The 29-year-old champion of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro has already deleted his posts. Interestingly, the judoka is a police sergeant in Ingushetia.
The TASS propaganda news agency reported that Khalmurzaev was disqualified due to the support of Hamas.
Earlier, the IJF awarded the gold medal to Russia's Inal Tasoev at the 2023 World Championships even though he lost to his opponent in the final. This delighted Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Hamas militants shot and killed Israeli rhythmic gymnastics champion Karina Pritika at a music festival.
