A Russian man suspected of murdering two wounded Ukrainian soldiers in Germany has been charged. The investigation found that the 57-year-old suspect was drinking with the Ukrainians on the day of the murder, and when they started talking about the war and the opinions of the interlocutors did not coincide, he stabbed his friends.

Two Ukrainian defenders in Germany were recuperating from combat operations, prosecutors said in a Munich court on Wednesday, October 23. The suspect's name was not disclosed following German privacy rules, the Associated Press reports.

On the day of the attack, the three men were drinking together and arguing about the war in Ukraine, "which made the accused feel that his national pride had been hurt," the statement said.

The suspect "decided to kill the two Ukrainians, who had been drinking heavily, in a surprise attack," prosecutors added and brought a knife from his neighboring apartment.

One of the Ukrainians was killed immediately, and the other died later from his wounds.

When the city was occupied, he and his family left. He was trained in the UK and then took part in the battles for Bakhmut. He was wounded twice, risking his life to bring his comrade from the battlefield.
