Russian footballer complains that in Iceland "a fan with a Ukrainian flag came to the stadium"

Russian football goalkeeper Nikita Chagrov, who played for Icelandic side Kordrengir in early 2022, complained about a fan with a Ukrainian flag. The 29-year-old native of Moscow noted that this happened at the very first game for the northern team.

Chagrov said this in an interview with RB Sport. The goalkeeper of Volgograd's Rotor added that he did not feel any negative attitude in Iceland after the start of Russia's criminal invasion of Ukraine, but the real attitude towards the aggressors was demonstrated near the Russian embassy in Reykjavik.

"The only thing that happened was that a fan came to the stadium for my first game with a Ukrainian flag. I don't know who the flag was addressed to on the stand: me or the other goalkeeper, or both of us. He was just standing there waving the flag. I had to go to the Russian embassy to get certificates to get a residence permit. At our embassy, there was a sign on the asphalt in red paint: "Liars." That was the only thing I saw. In general, people were very positive. They didn't say anything," Chagrov said.

Earlier, Russian Football Union (RFU) Secretary General Maxim Mitrofanov made a nonsense claim that the world is suffering because of the lack of opportunity to compete with the Russian Federation.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova shared her fantasies that Russian football teams will soon return to international competitions, and that "everyone is tired of Ukraine's voice."
