Russian figure skating world champion suddenly ends career at 25

Famous Russian figure skater Denis Khodykin has announced that he is ending his sports career. The 25-year-old Muscovite, along with Daria Pavlyuchenko, is a bronze medalist at the European Championships (2020), a bronze medalist at the Russian Championships (2020), and a world junior champion (2018) in ice dancing.

"I am finishing my sports career. I'm tired, it's time to move on. I see myself as a coach. I have been working in a team with Yulia Lipnytska for a month now. I get a lot of pleasure. I like to skate, so I will continue to perform in the show with Tasya. But it was already becoming difficult for me in professional sports – my age, injuries," Khodykin said in an interview with sport24.

On April 4, 2023, Denis Khodykin announced on Instagram that he and Pavlyuchenko had broken up. On June 21, Russian figure skater Tatyana Sobinina became Khodykin's partner.
