Russia targets Kyiv with drones once again: debris fall reported in two areas, one person injured
On the morning of January 3, Russia attacked Kyiv with Shahed drones once again. Air defense work reported in a number of areas.
Later, the Kyiv City Military Administration said that debris fell in the Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts, with subsequent fire. One person was reported injured.
The city authorities announced the air threat and the work of air defense forces at about 4 a.m. And at 05:37, the newly appointed head of the Kyiv MA, Tymur Tkachenko, reported the first consequences of the attack.
"As a result of the enemy attack, debris fall reported in the Holosiivskyi district. All services are on their way. Air raid alert is still in effect, stay in shelters," he wrote.
This information was confirmed by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko.
"There is no fire in the Holosiivskyi district, where the wreckage of the UAV fell. The experts are examining the site," he said at 05:43.
In this area, the wreckage fell near a private house.
The debris fall was also recorded in Darnytskyi district, where a private house caught fire.
"A fire broke out in a private house in Darnytskyi district as a result of the falling debris. Rescuers extinguished the fire, and information about the victims is being established," said Tkachenko at 05:52.
The house suffered damaged windows, a ruined wall and partial destruction of cladding.
Half an hour later, Klychko said that there were no casualties in either the Holosiivskyi or Darnytskyi districts due to the Russian attack.
In total, the air raid alert in the capital lasted more than 3 hours this morning.
"Terrorists continue targeted attacks on civilians. This time the enemy launched a UAV attack on the capital... The defense forces destroyed most of the enemy UAVs on the outskirts of Kyiv, but we still have debris fall in Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts," noted Tkachenko.
According to the head of the Kyiv MA, there were no significant destructions or serious injuries.
"A young woman suffered a burn on her hand, but she refused to be hospitalized," he said.
Earlier, it became known that during the cynical Russian attack on Kyiv on January 1, the administrative buildings of the Verkhovna Rada were damaged, and the roof of one of the National Bank buildings was on fire.
In total, on the first morning of 2025, the occupiers killed two people and injured seven in the capital. A couple of scientists were killed that day: a well-known Ukrainian neuroscientist, Ihor Zyma, and his wife, Doctor of Biological Sciences Olesia Sokur.
Fires broke out in several districts of the city, and destruction was reported.
