Pressure and manipulation: the Verkhovna Rada strongly condemned the IOC, which is trying to play along with Russia

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports has criticized the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which called on the winter sports federation to allow Russian athletes to participate in its competitions. Our officials noted that such actions violate moral values.

This is stated in a statement by the committee on its Telegram channel. It is noted that the IOC is putting pressure on the International Biathlon Union (IBU) and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), which consistently adhere to sanctions against the aggressor country.

"The members of the committee strongly condemn this pressure from the IOC. Representatives of aggressor countries have no place in the international arena! We call on the FIS, the IBU and all international sports federations not to succumb to manipulation and to maintain a firm position on the suspension of Russians and Belarusians from the competition. Sport should remain out of politics, but not out of morality! Russia and Belarus are waging a war of aggression against Ukraine, killing civilians, destroying cities and depriving Ukrainian athletes of the opportunity to train and compete," the statement reads.

It should be noted that recently the participants of the World Cup in cross-country skiing staged a riot against the Russians, condemning their return to the tournament.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, it became known that the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) changed its charter, excluding representatives of the so-called "LPR" and "DPR", as well as the occupied parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
