Portuguese footballer brought back the "penalty of the century". Video
Porto's second-team defender Romain Correia became a real antihero on social media after he took a penalty in the 12th round of the Portuguese Liga 2 championship. The episode took place in a home match against Oliveiraense.
"Porto B dominated the entire match, scoring three goals from the 56th to the 68th minute. During the match, the guests tried to delay the game time in a tricky way, but eventually paid the price.
In the 85th minute, Porto B goalkeeper Francisco Meixedo put the ball into play by passing to Correia. The 24-year-old defender pretended not to understand the situation and picked up the round ball to put it back into play.
The referee did not appreciate this humor, immediately awarding an 11-meter free kick. The penalty was clearly realized by Ze Pedro. The match eventually ended with a score of 1-3, and the situation with Correia was called the "penalty of the century" on social media.
