Poles may block another checkpoint on the border tomorrow: SBGSU makes statement

Polish farmers continue to block truck traffic at two border crossing points, allowing several trucks to pass through per hour or restricting traffic altogether. On April 2, they plan to resume the blockade in the direction of the Uhryniv-Dolhobyczów checkpoint, where they temporarily suspended their actions on Thursday for the Easter holidays.

Currently, traffic is free in both directions. This was stated in a comment to Ukrinform by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko.

"As of today, blocking is carried out in the direction of the Yahodyn and Rava-Ruska checkpoints. Polish protesters do not allow trucks to cross into Poland at all through Yahodyn and Rava-Ruska. In these directions, zero rates of border crossing by trucks leaving Ukraine have been recorded recently," said Demchenko.

He clarified that an extremely small number of trucks are allowed to leave Poland through Yahodyn, 70 trucks per day. As of this morning, a total of 500 trucks are queuing in the two blocked directions in Poland, 250 in front of each of them. Cars and buses are crossing the border freely everywhere, and there are no restrictions on traffic on the other side of the border for this category of vehicles.

The spokesperson reminded that earlier Polish farmers stopped blocking truck traffic at the Krakivets, Shehyni, and Ustyluh checkpoints, and there is now heavy traffic both leaving and entering Ukraine. Queues in Poland remain at Krakivets – 950 trucks, Shehyni – 600. However, with the current traffic intensity, drivers do not have to stand in lines for weeks.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukraine and Poland held talks at the level of prime ministers. The topics included the blocking of the border by Polish farmers and trade in the agricultural sector. Among the results is an agreement that Poland will issue licenses to Ukraine for the import of four types of agricultural crops into its territory.
