PlayStation users offered a bonus after prolonged outage

Maryna LisnychukNews

On Sunday, February 9, Sony announced the restoration of the PlayStation Network gaming IT infrastructure after a day-long global outage. The company thanked users for their patience and promised bonuses.

At the same time, the company did not provide a detailed reason for the incident. Information from Ask PlayStation technical support appeared on X.

"Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience," the message reads.

They noted that as a bonus, all PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional five days of service.

For its part, the Fortnite gaming platform confirmed that some players can indeed log in and play again on PlayStation platforms, but "not all game services may be back online yet."

The day before, during the PlayStation Network outage, users complained about problems with access to accounts, games, and services. They could not launch games regardless of whether they were using disk or digital versions. This affected the PS Vita, PS3, PS4, and PS5 platforms. According to official data, the problems arose with license verification.

As reported, the European Union plans to include PlayStation, Xbox and other game consoles in a new sanctions package against Russia. It is believed that the Russian military may use game consoles to control drones.
