Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin is much more comfortable with a Democratic rather than a Republican presidential candidate. If Donald Trump wins the presidential election, Russia may face "unpleasant surprises."

In particular, we may be talking about a significant drop in world oil prices, which will make the aggressor country, Russia, forget about its expansionist goals. This opinion was expressed by Russian oppositionist Olga Kurnosova in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA.

"Putin directly said that he is more comfortable working with a democratic administration because it is more understandable. What is called "the scoreboard," she said.

In this context, the oppositionist recalled that the administration of Democrat Barack Obama actually "ate" the annexation of Crimea. "Over the past year, the democratic Biden administration has been providing military assistance to Ukraine just a drop at a time, and the land deal has not been launched. Therefore, our expectations from the democratic administration have not been met," she stated.

At the same time, Kurnosova is convinced that Donald Trump's "tough approach" to resolving issues can promise "unpleasant surprises" for the Kremlin leader.

"When Trump says that a collapse in oil prices works much better than sanctions, and we hear similar words from the Saudi prince... I am well aware that if oil prices fall to $50 per barrel, Putin will have real problems with his budget. And only this can stop him in his expansionist aspirations," she summarized.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, a recent poll by The Wall Street Journal showed that in seven key US states that could determine the outcome of the presidential election, voters favor Donald Trump in resolving the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East. At the same time, an Economist YouGov poll showed Kamala Harris leading with 49 percent of the vote against 45 percent for Trump.
