OpenAI announces new version of ChatGPT for government agencies: what to expect
American research organization OpenAI has announced a new version of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. It will be designed for government agencies and employees and will be called ChatGPT Gov.
The Hill reports about it. With ChatGPT Gov, employees of US government agencies will receive the "most powerful version" of OpenAI's ChatGPT Enterprise model, which offers users enterprise-level security and privacy.
With ChatGPT Gov, federal agencies will have access to the best of OpenAI's models even when dealing with sensitive information. Users will do so in a government secure hosting environment - either a Microsoft Azure commercial cloud or an Azure public cloud.
"This new approach aims to streamline the authorization process for handling sensitive data while delivering the efficiency and productivity benefits that agencies need, all built on U.S. technology," said Kevin Weil, chief product officer at OpenAI.
ChatGPT Gov will have many of the features offered by ChatGPT Enterprise, including saving and sharing conversations, uploading text images and files, and interpreting and summarizing text, code, images, and math.
According to Weil, the new product will help the US remain a leading AI innovation leader as competition in the world increases.
He noted that AI is a powerful economic driver that increases productivity, unlocks innovation, and creates new opportunities in all sectors of society.
"That mission extends deeply into our work with government, with both a civil and a national security focus," Kevin added.
