Occupied the first place: Lomachenko excluded from two world rankings
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has updated its rankings of the world's best boxers. Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) was excluded from the organization's lightweight list, although a month ago, in January 2024, our compatriot was ranked first.
This is stated on the official WBC website. The union took such a measure against Lomachenko because of his upcoming fight against George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs) for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) title, which will take place in Perth, Australia, on May 12.
The World Boxing Association (WBA) did the same thing with Lomachenko earlier. Other organizations have left the Ukrainian in their rankings for now.
We would like to note the progress of Denys Berynchyk (18-0, 9 KOs), who was moved up four places by the WBC: now the 35-year-old native of Sorokyne is ranked seventh. Soon the Ukrainian will fight for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) title against Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs) from Mexico.
The fight between the Ukrainian and Cambosos was supposed to take place in the summer of 2022 but the Ukrainian refused because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
