Seville

Despite being one of the hottest cities on the continent, Seville has been named the most walkable city in Europe. Seville was ahead of other popular Spanish destinations such as Madrid and Barcelona.

The Walkable Cities Index analysis identified the 35 best European cities for walkability, taking into account factors such as weather, air quality, crime rates, and the distance between major tourist attractions. The details were reported by Express.

Seville topped the list with an impressive 98% walkability score, followed by Athens (88%) and Istanbul (86%).

According to experts, tourists in Seville who don't have a car or don't want to pay for a taxi can see the city's main attractions in less than half an hour on foot.

The hiking route, which includes incredible architecture and passes through the Maria Luisa Park, is just over 1.5 km long and almost entirely flat. The average December temperature is moderately warm, around 11.3 °C, and the risk of getting caught in the rain is relatively low. Seville is known for its architectural monuments, including the Alcazar Palace, the Cathedral, the Giralda, and Torre del Oro towers, which create a unique panorama of the city.

Athens and Istanbul, which come in second and third place, are also great for walkers. In Athens, the Acropolis and the Parthenon are only 4 km apart, which can be walked in about 38 minutes.

Some of Istanbul's most famous attractions are also located just 700 meters from each other. Visitors can walk from Hagia Sophia to the Blue Mosque in less than 10 minutes.

The Old Town, home to the Marianist Church, the Medieval Market Row, Barbican, Florian Gate, Czartoryski Palace, and one of the oldest in Europe, Jagiellonian University, is surrounded by steamy alleys. Not far from the center, over the Vistula River, stands the ancient Wawel Royal Castle, where Polish kings are buried.
