Not a knockdown: the decisive moment of the Usyk-Fury fight has been named

Suleiman spoke about the fight between Usyk and Fury

World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman called the 11th round decisive in the May 18 fight between Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs). According to the official, it was the penultimate three minutes, which two judges gave in favor of the Ukrainian, that determined the winner of the fight.

Suleiman wrote about this in his column for fightnews.com. The head of the WBC added that the decision of American judge Mike Fitzgerald, who scored the 11th round in favor of Usyk, was decisive, allowing the Ukrainian to win on the card of the referee from the United States 114-113.

"After a detailed analysis, it turns out that everything was decided in the 11th round. Judge Fitzgerald, whose final score was 114-113 in favor of Usyk, gave the score in the eleventh round 10-9 in favor of Usyk. It was an evenly contested round that made it difficult to keep score and determine the winner. If Judge Fitzgerald had given the round to Fury, the final score would have been 114-113 in favor of Fury and he would have won," Suleiman said.

The day before, the date of the rematch between Oleksandr and Tyson was officially announced. It is not yet known whether all the belts will be on the line for the second fight.

It was planned that Usyk would be deprived of the title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), but three reasons were given why it is beneficial for promoters and organizations to leave all the belts to the Ukrainian. At the same time, our boxer's team will appeal to the IBF to make an exception for mandatory defense.

Earlier, former world champion Carl Froch named the main culprit behind Tyson's defeat of Oleksandr. He also expressed confidence that Usyk should end his career.

Former boxer David Haye predicted that there would be no rematch between the Ukrainian and Fury. His compatriot Dereck Chisora started rumors that Oleksandr would return to the heavyweight division.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, artificial intelligence has made a forecast for the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. It also revealed the reason for the Ukrainian's suspension from boxing after the fight on May 18.
