The 1960s were a time of construction and new streets in Kyiv. However, there were few cars on the capital's roads back then, which is why the word "traffic jam" did not even exist for the citizens in our current understanding.

Archival photos of those years were published on his Telegram channel by Kyrylo Stepanets, a Kyiv guide. You can see what the city was like about 60 years ago.

"Kyiv's roads used to look completely different. Here are a few photos of the capital not clogged with vehicles," Stepanets wrote.

He posted several old photos of Kyiv streets. Thus, the first photo shows Voskresenskyi Avenue (Perov Boulevard), 1964, photo by A. Prymachenko.

The second photo shows Lubomyr Huzar (Komarov) Avenue, National Aviation University. At the time (1965-1994), it was the Kyiv Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers.

As a reminder, the Hostynnyi Dvir is without exaggeration one of the hallmarks of Podil in Kyiv. Thanks to the camera of an amateur photographer, we can see what the "old" building looked like in 1976 before a large-scale reconstruction.

The tram appeared in Kyiv at the end of the nineteenth century, but it immediately began to develop actively and gained immense popularity among the citizens. The heyday of this mode of transportation was in the 1950s and 1960s when its network was expanding and the cars were becoming more comfortable.
