Stains on the glasses panes can cause really sensitive problems. Not only are they distracting and annoying, but they also impair visibility, which can be very important, especially if you're driving.

To get rid of marks on sunglasses as well as other glasses quickly and effectively, you need to clean them properly. Unsuitable material or means can leave scratches or divorces on the glasses. OBOZ.UA collected several ways how to properly clean your glasses.

Spray for lenses

One of the easiest ways to clean glasses is to use a special spray for this purpose. Start by wiping the glasses with a microfiber cloth to remove dust and other dirt. Next, spray once on each lens and wipe off the spray with a microfiber cloth. To reduce streaks and scratches, do not wipe the lenses in circular motions. Use horizontal and vertical motions - you'll clean the surface better that way.

Dish detergent

If you don't have a special spray on hand, you can easily clean your glasses and sunglasses with dish soap. It dissolves all typical contaminants, especially grease, so it will work well for this task. But use a minimum of product to avoid streaks. So, start by washing your hands with soap and water so they don't have grease on them and wet your glasses with warm water. Then, apply a tiny drop of soap on each lens and rub it gently with your fingers. Rinse off the soap and dry the lenses with a microfiber cloth using horizontal and vertical strokes.

Lens wipes

Another quick and easy way to clean your glasses is to use disposable lens wipes. You can easily buy them in optical salons or pharmacies. To clean your glasses with lens wipes, wipe the inside of the lenses with horizontal motions. Next, go to the outside and wipe the glass with vertical motions. Dry the lenses with a microfiber cloth.

How to clean eyeglass nosepieces

When caring for your glasses, don't forget about cleaning the nosepads. If you let dirt accumulate on them, the glasses will hold on your face worse. A solution of dishwashing detergent will work well for cleaning them. Dilute a drop of the liquid in a bowl of warm water, soak an old toothbrush or cotton swab in the mixture and gently wipe the nosepads from all sides. Rinse the glasses with water and wipe with a microfiber cloth. Disposable alcohol wipes are also suitable for quick cleaning of this part of the frame, but do not use them for other parts of the glasses.

How to properly care for your glasses

To prevent dirt from accumulating on your glasses, you need to properly care for them between cleanings. Here are some basic rules:

  • don't rub the lenses with articles of clothing - the fibers of t-shirts or shirts have body grease on them and can further contaminate the glass;
  • store any glasses in cases or bags when you're not wearing them;
  • do not rub the lenses with cloth towels, much less paper towels or tissues, as they can scratch the glass;
  • always place the glasses on a surface with the glasses upside down to avoid scratching or dirtying them;
  • wipe the lenses daily and perform a deeper cleaning once a week.
