Netflix shows first trailer for One Hundred Years of Solitude series

The Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez opened a new page in the history of world literature with his novel One Hundred Years of Solitude. The book was first published in 1967, with its plot based on the principles of magical realism, an artistic method in which magical elements are intertwined with a realistic picture of the world.

One Hundred Years of Solitude is considered Márquez's real masterpiece. Using the story of the Buendía family and the town of Macondo as an example, the author metaphorically describes the history, beliefs, and customs of Latin America. It has become known that Netflix is filming a series based on the book, as it has published first trailer.

The drama series of the same name, One Hundred Years of Solitude, will be released on December 11. Previously, viewers were shown only a short teaser. In the trailer, you can see much more details, including the main characters.

One Hundred Years of Solitude is a great family saga that tells the story of the Buendía family. In his autobiography, Márquez noted that Macondo is the prototype of one of the towns where he spent his childhood.

The writer recalled a time when his aunt was brought an egg that had a strange shape - she was ordered to throw it into the fire because the egg belonged to Basilisk, an unknown creature. In this episode, as well as in the book, the emphasis is not on biography, but on the thinking of people who weave something otherworldly and amazing into their ordinary lives.

Folk beliefs, fictions, images, and myths are the motif of many of Márquez's works, as seemingly incredible things happen in a very ordinary way.

The book contains many references to famous myths or biblical events. José Buendía, in order to found Macondo, goes in search of a new land for his descendants. The downpour does not stop for almost five years. The characters' actions seem to be guided by an invisible force, so their fate is predetermined.

It is not yet known to what extent the events of the series will correspond to the book, but the viewers will definitely experience an incredible range of emotions: from sadness to joy, from anger to grief.

Interestingly, the series was produced by Gabriel Garcia Márquez's sons.

It stars Claudio Cataño, Jerónimo Barón, Marco González, Susana Morales and .
