More than 58 meters: where the world's longest tram is located

Germany boasts a record-breaking vehicle, namely the world's longest tram. It is over 58 meters long and can accommodate up to 368 passengers.

The air-conditioned tram, which can reach a speed of 80 km/h, has become an important milestone in the development of urban transport. This tram is part of a large program to upgrade the transport infrastructure in southwestern Germany.

The longest tram serves a route connecting three cities - Mannheim, Ludwigshafen and Heidelberg. This allows for comfortable and fast movement of passengers between cities and within urban transport. The vehicle, manufactured by the Czech company Škoda Group, has become an important part of this regional transportation network.

The tram, which is 58.61 meters long, also has a number of other advantages. In addition to air conditioning, it can travel at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, which makes it efficient for long-distance travel. Thanks to these characteristics, this tram can significantly reduce the load on other modes of transportation.

This record is not the first for the Rhine-Neckar region. In the 1960s, a 38.55-meter-long tram already appeared here, which was also the world's longest at the time. The new achievement is therefore part of a long tradition of innovation in the German transportation sector.

Prior to that, the world's largest tram was a 9-section vehicle in Budapest that was 55.9 meters long. This tram, which was launched in 2016, held the record until the new German vehicle, which is several meters longer than the previous achievement.
