More performance and a 12-megapixel camera: Apple has released a new iMac in bright colors

The American technology corporation Apple has launched its updated desktops on the market. iMac computers in new colors, with the latest M4 chip and access to Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence technologies are already available for pre-order.

According to the company, thanks to M4, the new iMac is up to 1.7 times faster with everyday routine tasks, and 2.1 times faster with demanding processes such as photo editing and gaming. The data is in comparison with an iMac based on M1.1. At the same time, the computer provides greater privacy protection.

The new iMac is available in a range of new colors, and the 24-inch Retina 4.5K display offers a new nanotextured glass option. For video calls, the device has a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera with Desk View. It also has up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports and color-matched accessories that include USB-C. The price of the gadget starts at $1,299, the machine has 16 GB of combined storage, and its actual sales will begin on November 8.

M4 features

The M4 chip delivers a performance boost to the iMac. With a faster processor, the new iMac is 1.7 times faster than the iMac with M1. Powering demanding tasks like photo editing and gaming is the advanced graphics architecture of the Apple iMac with M4.

The new iMac comes standard with 16GB of combined storage - expandable up to 32GB. The Neural Engine in the M4 is now more than 3 times faster than on the iMac with M1. Apple promises that compared to the most popular 24-inch all-in-one with the latest Intel Core 7 processor, the new iMac is up to 4.5 times faster.

Apple Intelligence on the Mac

Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence capabilities are also becoming available to users of the new computers. It is currently available in American English with macOS Sequoia 15.1. For the user, this means improved capabilities to create and edit emails, and get a summary from any text. The Image Playground feature gives users a new way to create funny original images, and Genmoji allows them to create their own emojis in seconds.

With the newly redesigned Siri assistant, users can seamlessly switch between spoken and typed requests to speed up tasks. In addition, Siri can answer thousands of questions about Macs and other Apple products.

The new Apple Intelligence features will be available in December, with additional capabilities coming in the coming months. For example, in December, ChatGPT will be integrated into Siri and Writing Tools, allowing users to access it directly even without creating an account. At the same time, all IP addresses will be hidden, and the OpenAI developer will not store requests. Those who decide to connect their account will be subject to OpenAI's data usage policies.

New colors

The new iMac is available in seven vibrant colors, including fresh shades of green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. The back of the iMac will be brighter than the front. Each computer comes with a colorful Magic Keyboard and a Magic Mouse or optional Magic Trackpad. They now come with a USB-C port for convenience.

New display and camera

For the first time, the wide 24-inch Retina 4.5K display on the iMac is available with the option of nanotextured glass. This minimizes reflections and glare while maintaining outstanding image quality.

And the updated 12-megapixel Center Stage camera with Desk View makes video calls even more convenient. Center Stage helps you frame your shot optimally, and Desk View uses a wide-angle lens to simultaneously show the user and a view from above their desk, which is useful for teachers demonstrating a lesson to students or creators showing off their latest projects. And with Touch ID advanced security, users can easily and securely unlock their computer, make online purchases with Apple Pay, and download apps.
