Margot Robbie showed off an exquisite manicure perfect for the Barbie look
One of the main trends of last year was Barbie-core, which took over the fashion and beauty world after the premiere of the hit movie Barbie. Of course, the interest in this aesthetic and its popularity was fueled by the film's lead actress, Margot Robbie. However, at the Critics Choice Awards 2024, the actress appeared not in her usual delicate pink look, but in a red dress, which was called "hot Barbie glamor." The star's manicure was also devoid of pink hints, but, according to experts, it fit even better into the overall concept.
Margot Robbie demonstrated the nail art that is inherent in real Barbie dolls. It was made for the Hollywood beauty by the star manicurist Tom Bachik, who shared it on his Instagram.
For the past six months, Robbie has been recreating the images of the iconic blonde dolls. She managed not only to dress up in Barbie dresses and costumes, but also to do identical hairstyles and makeup. Her manicure was no exception. For the Critics Choice Awards 2024, Tom Bachik gave his celebrity client the "most realistic" Barbie manicure imaginable.
So, to create a "true" manicure for the doll, the master used two beige shades of Chanel Les Vernis Légende and Ballerina on Robbie's short nails. He commented: "Our inspiration for the manicure was light glamor. We wanted the nails to match her skin tone to help visually narrow her nails and lengthen her fingers, almost like a mannequin."
Allure expert noted: "As a person who was an avid collector of Barbie dolls in the 80s, I can say that Margot's nails remind me not so much of a mannequin as a real Barbie hand. You see, the Barbies I know never wore "nail polish". In fact, you can barely see a real nail on her tiny hands - that's what makes Robbie's short manicure look so neat and match her skin color. And you can't tell me that her huge diamond ring by Lorraine Schwartz isn't an homage to the big sparklers Barbie was known to wear."
This nod to Barbie was more restrained than many of Robbie's previous looks, but fans are hoping that it won't be the last. After all, the awards season is far from over, so we can assume that the actress will continue to delight the public with spectacular Barbie-esque looks at least until the Oscars.
