Maguchikh is recognized as the best Balkan athlete of the year
Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Maguchikh was named the best Balkan athlete of the year. Ukraine has been a member of the Balkan Athletics Association since 2016.
"Congratulations to Yaroslava Maguchikh from Ukraine on being recognized as the Best Balkan Athlete of the Year. Her exceptional performances in the high jump have elevated Balkan athletics to the world stage and we are delighted to see her shine," the statement said.
On October 27, the 23-year-old from Dnipro won the Best Athlete in Europe award.
It should be noted that at the 8th stage of the Diamond League in Paris, Maguchikh broke the world record in women's high jump, which had been held since 1987. Jaroslawa became the first woman in history to jump 2.10 meters.
A month later, Maguchikh won the gold medal in the high jump at the 2024 Olympic Games.
