Albina PanchenkoNews

Street art is the voice of the city, its reflection in colors and lines. Artists turn the gray walls of buildings into picturesque canvases: from realistic portraits to abstract compositions, from social commentary to poetic images. We will tell you where the most popular works are located below.

"The Ghost of Kyiv"

Located in the historic center of the capital at 3/7 Mezhyhirska Street.

The mural depicts a pilot in the cockpit of an airplane and symbolizes all Ukrainian aviators who protect Ukraine's airspace. The image was created by artist Andriy Kovtun. "Kyiv's Reason" is the personification of wartime heroism. It is based on a photograph of a soldier of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade.

It is said that at the beginning of the Russian invasion, in February 2022, the aviation fighter shot down six enemy "iron birds" during the Battle of Kyiv.

"Berehynia"

Located in the capital near Independence Square.

The mural was created by artist Mata Ruda from Costa Rica. His work is characterized by a deep meaning. In his works, the artist often explores the centuries-old history of different peoples and individual human destinies.

The subject of the wall painting is an immigrant from Azerbaijan.

By the way, this is not the first work of the muralist in the Ukrainian capital: in the fall of 2018, his street art depicting a Crimean Tatar woman appeared on the platform of the Osokorky metro station.

"Mr. and Mrs. Dnipro"

Located in Dnipro in the Solnechnyi residential area.

The wall painting was created by Kharkiv artist Oleksandr Britsev.

The image of the man personifies the spirit of the free Cossacks, an independent and self-reliant owner of his land. His head is crowned with a fox, a symbol of sharp mind, wit and prudence. The lady, on the other hand, embodies feminine grace and beauty.

The artist sought to create a mural that would give people a positive mood before the working day.

"Angel and Rescuer"

Located in Dnipro on Prince Volodymyr the Great Street.

The mural depicts a firefighter being gently embraced by an angel. The mural symbolizes gratitude to the rescuers for their courage and heroism.

The author of the mural is artists Valeriy Kolor (ZDESROY) and Margarita Usenko.

"Revival"

It is located in Kyiv's Podil district on Andriyivskyi Descent.

The mural was created in 2014 on the wall of a five-story residential building.

The painting process took place as part of the French Spring festival. The authors were Sevastopol artist Oleksiy Kyslov in collaboration with French artist Julien Mallan.

The fifteen-meter-long panel depicting a girl wearing a national wreath symbolizes the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people and the country's revival.

"Sower of Dreams"

Located in Kamianets-Podilskyi at 2 Dmytro Sasa Street.

The street art was created by artists Oleksandr Britsev and Oleksandr Grebenyuk in 2013. The 100-square-meter mural was included in the world's top ten.

The wall depicts three dream sowers floating above the night city, illuminating their way with lanterns. Their legs are made in the form of massive torches. The artists explain that they tried to combine reality and fantasy in their work.

"Hutsulka with a laptop"

Located in Ivano-Frankivsk at 4 Troleibusna Street.

The mural was created by the family of muralists Yurii and Marta Pitchuk.

The mural is dedicated to the development of IT technologies, taking into account the historical context. The artists depicted a woman of the past and created a harmonious synthesis of authentic beauty and interactivity.
