"It's so early": Ukraine's footballer lays siege to fans before the battle for Euro 2024
Ukraine goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin disagreed with fans who consider the team a clear favorite in the semifinals of the 2024 European Championship playoffs against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Benfica Lisbon goalkeeper recalled that the confrontation on March 21 will consist of one meeting.
Trubin said this in an interview with Ukrainian Football. The Shakhtar Donetsk product emphasized that all the Blue and Yellows players are well aware of the importance of the meeting with the Bosnians, who are very competitive opponents and will play on their home field.
"I don't think these are weak opponents. No one in our national team thinks so - we see that these teams include players from the top leagues, participants in European Cups, players who have played a lot of places. In addition, the playoffs, and even so early, are a serious test, especially for the UPL guys, who have a longer winter break compared to the European championships. We all understand the importance of these matches and will not give ourselves a "slack" to believe that any opponent is less dangerous," Trubin said.
The day before, the president of the European Football Union (UEFA), Aleksander Čeferin, hinted that he did not want to see the Ukrainian national team at the European Championship in Germany.
