It was the first time a 4-point shot was made in basketball. Video
American basketball player Chris Banchero has made the first ever accurate four-point shot. This event took place in a match of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor's Cup, which was the first 5v5 league in the world to introduce such a rule in its competitions.
Four points are awarded for a shot from a distance of 27 feet (8.23 meters) from the hoop. Banchero, who plays offensive guard for the Meralco Bolts, received a pass from his teammate during a long offensive possession against the Magnolia Hotshots and sent it straight to the basket. The basketball player immediately showed on his fingers how many points the referee should give him.
Banchero's team won 99-94 at home, and the American guard scored 14 points to become the second highest scorer on his team.
It should be noted that experts are absolutely sure that the four-point shooting rule will not be widespread and will not become popular. In the Philippines, it is expected that the innovation will affect the tactics of teams.
