iPhone will be able to show how long it will take to charge: what is known about the new feature
Apple continues to improve the iOS operating system by adding new features that are designed to make using the iPhone even more convenient. One of these innovations will be the ability to estimate the time required to fully charge a smartphone.
This feature was discovered in the beta version of iOS 18.2 and is likely to appear in one of the next updates. As noted by the specialized publication Croma, this feature will calculate the total time to fully charge the iPhone, taking into account the amount of energy the device receives. So depending on the power adapter you're using, your iPhone on iOS 18.2 may show you an estimated time to fully charge.
Thanks to the new "BatteryIntelligence" system, the smartphone will be able to calculate the approximate charging time based on the amount of energy it receives. Users will be able to receive notifications with an estimate of the time required to reach a certain level of charge, for example, 80%. This will allow for more efficient planning of device usage and avoid situations where charging takes longer than expected.
It is worth noting that a similar feature is already available for MacBook users. It allows you to estimate the time remaining until the laptop is fully charged, which is a convenient option for those who work on the go.
In addition to the new charging time estimation feature, iOS 18 already offers a number of other tools to optimize battery performance. For example, users can limit the maximum charge level to preserve battery capacity for longer periods. The system also tracks when an iPhone is being charged with a slow charger.
