"I'll show myself better": Joshua is ready to fight Usyk for the third time
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs) expressed confidence that he would be able to defeat Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) if the boxers meet again. The Watford native, recalling his two fights against the Ukrainian, noted that our compatriot was stronger.
Joshua said this in an interview with the Mail Sport Boxing YouTube channel, responding to accusations that he constantly has problems fighting left-handed fighters. The British boxer admitted that he would like to get another chance to fight Usyk, whom he lost to in September 2021 and August 2022.
"Listen, I got beaten by one of the best lefties in the world. In the world! Could I have done better? Yes, 100%. Will I do better if I get another chance? Yes, I would. I just lost to the best that night. It doesn't mean that I have difficulties with all left-handers. I fight my opponent. Usik was better than me at that moment," Joshua said.
On December 23, the Briton will fight Swede Otto Wallin (26-1-0-1, 14 KOs) at a grand boxing night in Saudi Arabia. The main event of the show will be the confrontation between American Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) and Joseph Parker (33-3, 23 KOs) from New Zealand.
On February 17, Usik will fight Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion. The World Boxing Council (WBC) has already appointed a mandatory challenger for the winner.
